We’re so grateful for our community south of the border, and we want to be completely transparent about something we know has been frustrating: recent shipping duties.
Due to new U.S. trade policies introduced this year, many Canadian goods—including skincare—are now subject to high import tariffs and the removal of the previous $800 duty-free threshold. This means that even small orders from Somerset Moss are being met with unexpected duties, taxes, and brokerage fees at checkout or upon delivery—sometimes close to the order total itself.
This change is not something we’ve chosen, nor do we benefit from it. It reflects a broader shift in U.S. import policy and has caught many independent Canadian brands, like ours, by surprise.
We are:
- Actively exploring U.S.-based fulfillment to reduce these costs for you.
- Advocating through trade channels to encourage tariff relief for small, clean beauty makers.
- Committed to transparency about pricing, shipping, and where your money goes
In the meantime, if you have questions about your order or are unsure about potential fees, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at hello@somersetmoss.com.
Your support means the world to us—and every order, message, and kind review helps us weather these changes.
With gratitude,
Sam & The Somerset Moss Team
